Peace of Mind

Pregnancy massage/aromatherapy

Gentle massage after the 12th week of pregnancy is truly beneficial. It affects all the body systems in a positive way restoring peace & balance to the mind, body & spirit. Calming yet energising it helps alleviate:

  • Backache
  • Soothes fatigue & tension & reduces stress
  • Improves circulation & posture
  • Reduces oedema
  • Improves metabolism for mum & baby
  • Improves immunity
  • Reduces postnatal depression
  • Preparation for birth as labour can be slowed down by tight, overstretched muscles
across the abdomen, pelvis and thighs
  • Helps the body's natural recovery process after giving birth

We use specialist cushions that allow the client to lie on her front for the whole treatment. This provides instant relief in all areas of compression such as the lower back, knees, hips, upper back & shoulders. This means the client can benefit from full relaxation as she does not have to move from side to side. The cushions support the weight of the baby from every angle unlike pregnancy massage couches.

There are a number of oils that are safe to use in pregnancy if administered carefully by a qualified aromatherapist. As pregnancy expert Denise Tiran states:

“Aromatherapy offers a wonderful means of helping women to cope with the physiological symptoms of pregnancy and early parenthood and to ease discomfort and pain in labour”.

Cost: £25 ½ hour / £45 - 1 hour

teaching sessions

Using massage therapy for pain management has become a popular and effective choice for labouring women.
It has also proven to be very beneficial in the antenatal period. For this reason we have put together a teaching pack for fathers so they can start to massage their partners and begin to feel like they have a useful role in the build up
to the birth.
The session will explore the use of touch and specific techniques and positions that can relieve pain and support the labour process. Demonstrations of massage moves will be shown with support illustrations and literature
given for home practice. Advice on essential oils that can be utilised throughout labour and in the post natal period will also be included in the literature.
